How Cheribundi's online store is technically catching up with Nike, Louis Vuitton & Co.

Problem

The existing Shopify online store of the Cheribundi brand had various technical problems, such as incorrect display of the user interface, incomplete mobile optimization for smartphones or long loading times.

As a result, the purchase rate (conversion rate) was below 1%. This means that for every 100 visitors, less than one purchases from the brand. On this basis, it was impossible to run profitable advertising campaigns, e.g. via Meta Ads (Facebook + Instagram) or Google Ads including YouTube.

Goal

The Shopify online store should function flawlessly and be state of the art in order to meet the brand's ambitions. The store should therefore be future-proof as well as expandable and scalable.

Overall, the purchase rate was to be increased to over 2% to enable profitable online marketing via paid advertising. Due to Cheribundi's ambitious sales targets, the new store had to be developed within a very short space of time.

Solution

Within just 8 weeks, a completely new user interface was developed using Shopify's own Hydrogen framework. This is based on the headless approach, which means that the backend or administration area of Shopify continues to be used and therefore all connections to merchandise management, billing or ERP systems can remain in place.

The headless approach has been used for years by successful market leaders such as Nike, Louis Vuitton, Zalando, etc. and has several advantages. The technology is state-of-the-art, which means that Cheribundi is absolutely future-proof and at the same time has a competitive advantage over conventional online stores. This applies in particular to loading speed and flexibility.

This innovative approach more than doubled the purchase rate (conversion rate) and laid the foundation for profitable online marketing.
