How the WJD Group is becoming less dependent on retailers with its own online store based on Shopify
Problem
The company sold its garden furniture products primarily through stationary retailers (supermarkets, DIY stores, etc.). This resulted in a high level of dependency and little influence on pricing for end customers or the brand image.
It therefore became increasingly clear that a separate, direct sales channel would have to be established in the future to complement the offline business, but there was no in-house expertise in e-commerce.
Goal
In addition to the B2B business, a separate B2C business was to be established in order to become more independent of retailers and to have control over pricing and brand presence.
By selling directly to end customers, the aim was to increase target group understanding and gain customer data. At the same time, the plan was not to hire any additional employees in order to keep the organization "lean".
Solution
A new B2C brand called Nordflair was created and a dedicated Shopify online store was set up in less than 6 weeks. This was marketed primarily via Google Ads. As a result, a strong presence and visibility was established in a very short time.
The result was multiple 6-figure sales in the first three months after the launch. The company thus established its own online business as a new sales channel without having to expand the team or lose focus on its core business.
